You will fill an essential role helping SRG Global integrate new innovative electronic and mechatronic features into decorative elements for automotive interiors and exteriors. In your role, you will envision and realize products and/or processes with technologies including capacitive touch, integrated lighting, electromechanical and/or electronic features enabling style and design customization in addition to traditional product functionality. You will work with customers and internal business units including Marketing, Business Development, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Commercial to successfully ideate, conceptualize, design and commercialize new products that are enabled with integrated electromechanical and/or electronic componentry.


This is a creative, hands-on position that requires strong electronic device design integration and engineering skills, creative thinking, and the ability to work efficiently as a key member of a multidisciplinary team on several projects at once. This role is part of the R&D team focused on developing our next generation products. As an Electronics Integration innovation engineer, you will be the technical lead on at least one advanced technology platform while providing support on other advanced development projects where your expertise is required.


Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ideating, developing and commercializing new or improved products that solve customer needs
  • Spearheading integration of electronics to support opportunities listed on the products roadmap
  • Leading research activities specific to electronics integration for Global Product Development
  • Serving as the electronics subject matter expert within the organization
  • Participate in new idea generation process to help grow company technology portfolio
  • Interacting with customers, business development, marketing, manufacturing, purchasing and commercial teams to discover/define application opportunities
  • Understanding and applying SRG Global technologies and adjacent competencies to create new product opportunities
  • Supporting scale-up of developed solutions from bench prototype to commercially available products
  • Generating detailed concept proposals and development plans
  • Designing, prototyping, testing, and transitioning to manufacture functional elements and components that enable mass-production.
  • Developing plans for future applications of solutions based on new developments in engineering, design and technological innovations.
  • Coordinating external development activities with universities, institutes, laboratories, customers, suppliers, in addition to internal design, engineering, and manufacturing functions.
  • Coordinating internal development activities with the commercial, business development, design, engineering, and manufacturing functions within the organization.
  • Developing technology transfer packages to support mass production scale-up




  • Deep understanding of electrical and electronics design principles and theory, especially as it relates to automotive applications in lighting, capacitive sensing and electromechanical systems
  • Expert-level knowledge of innovation commercialization processes including gate reviews and key partner co-innovation activities
  • Basic understanding of basic cost model creation and the drivers of profitability, specifically contribution margin and return on investment


  • Experience identifying and developing emerging electronics technologies into existing product platforms
  • Experience and working knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA and APQP process
  • Experience and practical application of Six Sigma and lean tools in product development applications
  • Experience identifying and solving practical problems, defining a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standards may exist.
  • Experience leading electronic design aspects of projects to completion on budget and on schedule.

  • Degree in Electronic, Optoelectronic, Electrical or related field. Advanced Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of product-embedded electronics experience, automotive industry preferred
  • Demonstrated strategic planning skills and ability to innovate
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities, ability to make decisions and take action under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to interact with all levels and functions of customers, styling, engineering and purchasing.
