The Environmental Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of procedures and programs to minimize environmental risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Manage the EMS
  •  Directs the Management Team in the proper development, implementation and maintenance of the EMS.
  • Directs the Plant’s environmental activities including coordination of the Emergency Action Plan when appropriate.
  • Directs the development of environmental objectives and targets and implementation and maintenance of Environmental Management Programs (EMPs).
  • Authorized to provide resources adequate to achieve environmental objectives and targets and proper implementation and maintenance of the EMS in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard.
  • Authorized to distribute copies of the site Environmental Policy to interested and relevant parties.
  • Authorized to act on behalf of the Facility, when assigned and as required, as the official representative with regulatory and local authorities.
  • Responsible for monitoring, interpreting and communicating legal environmental requirements.
  • Responsible for monitoring, interpreting and communicating corporate, customer and other applicable environmental requirements.
  • Authorized to direct the environmental compliance audits, internal audits and maintenance of the environmental compliance calendar.
  • Responsible for the proper maintenance of the EMS Databases, web sites and shared drives.
  • Authorized to control the EMS documents for the site.
  • Oversees the Company environmental training programs.
  • Maintains environmental training records.
  • Ensures new employees receive necessary environmental training.
  • Reviews environmental nonconformities and potential nonconformities.
  • Develops, maintains and administers required environmental reports, permits, plans and programs and applicable regulations.
  • Responsible for ensuring environmental review of capital projects.
  • Ability to lead and manage the Morehead Team through effective coaching, development and training in the areas environmental compliance





Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental field or similar discipline is required. 5-8 years of progressive experience in the environmental field. Wastewater Treatment experience is preferred.
