In this entrepreneurial, creative role, you will flex your optoelectronic, electronic and manufacturing muscles to ideate, develop and commercialize innovative integrated lighting products. You will explore how our products can incorporate sharper, cleaner light and guide us into new territory, investigating how we can go beyond illumination to sensing and automation, making our products attractive and functional.

Responsibilities

  • Primary Responsibilities:

    • Spearhead integration of lighting components into new innovative solutions
    • Create, develop, and realize new product opportunities by understanding and applying lighting to all SRG Global capabilities
    • Lead research activities specific to lighting integration as the organization’s lighting subject matter expert
    • Explore the potential for implementing sensing and automation in current and new opportunities
    • Offer knowledge, perspective, and plans for implementing new developments in engineering, design and lighting technology
    • Discover and define application opportunities with customers, internal teams and external partners/suppliers
    • Create innovative products and solutions for consumers and society- from conceptualization to commercialization
    • Drive concept scale-up from bench prototype to commercially available product
    • Design, prototype and test functional elements and components that enable mass-production
    • Coordinate development activities with internal and external groups, including manufacturing locations and senior leadership
    • Develop transfer packages to support mass production scale-up

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of electrical and electronics design principles and theory, especially as it relates to automotive applications in lighting
  • Deep knowledge of innovation commercialization processes
  • Ability to leading lighting projects to completion within budget and on time
  • Understanding of basic cost model creation and the drivers of profitability, specifically contribution margin and return on investment
  • Proven experience identifying and integrating lighting technologies into existing product platforms
  • Success identifying and solving practical problems and defining a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standards
  • Working knowledge of and experience with automotive DFMEA, PFMEA and APQP process
  • Ability to gain consensus with and influence multi-disciplinary teams, including senior leadership

Background

  • Engineering degree in Electronics, Optoelectronics, Electrical or related field. Advanced degree preferred
  • Three to five years of lighting design and electronics experience, automotive industry preferred
  • Demonstrated strategic planning skills and ability to innovate
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities and ability to make decisions and take action under pressure
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to interact with customers of all levels and functions (including styling, engineering and purchasing)
