    Jr. Chemist



    The Advanced Development Center at SRG Global headquarters in Taylor, Michigan is searching for a Junior Chemist with a passion for driving continuous improvement in process efficiency and effectiveness.


    The ideal candidate will possess the skills and knowledge sought below but, of equal importance, he or she will be self motivated, possess a positive attitude, and be a creative thinker.  This is a “hands-on” position that will work across the organization in a competitive atmosphere.  Working effectively with cross-functional teams is crucial for success.



    • Responsible for development center plating line

      • Daily maintenance, hull cells, jiggle cells

      • Stress and ductility’s on electrolytic plating tanks

      • Perform wet chemistry to analyze plating baths

      • Lab equipment

    • Develop new surface finishes for plastic plating or painting to meet customer styling requirements.

    • Responsible to support the development of and to implement the SRG plating technical roadmap

    • Develop and introduce new materials technologies to meet customer appearance specifications

    • Develop new plating or painting processes, materials, methods, and layouts to increase equipment flexibility and maximize mfg yields and/or plant capacity.

    • Support optimization of secondary anode and rack development.

    • Develop plating process parameters for new program initial sample submissions and variation reduction activities.

    • Represent operations during plating Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Reviews.

    • Support purchasing and VA/VE engineering initiatives.

    • Assist SRG plant chemists with problem solving.

    • Eliminate restricted materials, ensure environmental compliance.

    • Communicate development status to ADC Management, SRG Senior Leadership Team, and customers.


    • Minimum BS in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials, or Chemical Engineering.

    • 5 years of experience with plastic plating and painting materials and processes.

    • Knowledge of basic plastics plating, painting and injection molding processes.

    • Familiarity with automotive product design and development life cycles.

    • Proven problem solving skills

    • Ability to manage priorities to meet company goals and initiatives.

    • Working level knowledge of advance quality planning elements.

    • Knowledge of Design of Experiments

    • Ability to interact with styling and technical customer teams.

    • Strong computer, leadership, communication, and presentation skills
