    Tooling Engineer



    The Tooling Engineer is responsible for the Tooling Developed from DfM, through Industrialization of the Injection mold. This position reports to the Tool Engineering Group Leader


    This position is responsible for providing the required technical direction and focus necessary to support the award, development and launch of new programs. 


    The ideal candidate will possess the skills and knowledge sought below but, of equal importance, he or she will be self motivated, possess a positive attitude, and be a creative thinker.  This is a “hands-on” position that will work across the organization in a competitive atmosphere.  Working effectively with cross-functional teams is crucial for success.


    • Participate in the development of quotes, and tooling technical requirements, and supplier selection.
    • Actively work with the Product Design group during the design for manufacturing process, capturing the voice of the customer as in the manufacture, and customer needs.
    • Will coordinate with Moldlfow Analyst, and Process Engineers within the department.
    • Lead Tooling program through the full industrialization of injection molds in a timely and efficient manner including completion of all deliverables.
    • Can recognize and anticipate the roadblocks that will affect a successful launch. Quick and decisive decisions through cross functional team, data, engineering tools, and knowledge.
    • Anticipate customer expectations, requirements, and specifications in advance. Be the Voice of Customer.
    • Take a leadership role in identifying root cause of problems found, develop solutions and implement changes for problems as they arise with a sense of urgency.
    • Drive suppliers to meet required standards, dimensional specifications, processing capability and support design at plant.
    • Ensure standards are implemented through lessons learned.
    • Ensure Tooling support is provided at the facility’s as appropriate.
    • Have the presence and relationship to always hold the suppliers, cross functional team, along with and external customers accountable.


    • Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Tooling manufacturing, molding processing, project management, preferable decorative exterior trim.
    • Leadership Style: Self-starter must be able to work with little direction and with high level of self-motivation. Must be able to work on own initiative and work well in a group.
    • Strong knowledge of plastic injection molding part design, moldflow and predictive tools, tooling manufacturing, and molding processing.
    • CAD experience using Solidworks. Or similar is a plus.
    • Well organized project management skills.
    • Experience with budgeting, cost estimating, CAD and quality engineering concepts.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills a must. 
    • BS in Engineering or other technical degree required.
